Glesco Electric was recently featured in an in-depth article in the News Gazette's Central Illinois Business Magazine written by Carol Roehm. The article highlights the company’s people, projects, and long-standing commitment to the Champaign-Urbana and Danville communities.

The article explores Glesco’s nearly four decades of service as a commercial and industrial electrical contractor, emphasizing the employees and electrical professionals who work behind the scenes to power many of the region’s most recognizable facilities. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Urbana, Glesco has built its reputation on technical expertise, creativity, and strong community partnerships.

“The story of Glesco is our team and our energy and ability to be creative,” President Laura Grenda said in the article.

The feature also highlights Glesco’s extensive work across the University of Illinois campus, including major athletic facilities, academic buildings, and infrastructure upgrades. Notable projects include lighting and electrical improvements at UI sports venues, large-scale campus facilities, and the recently completed University of Illinois Philanthropy Center, where Glesco served as the design-build electrical contractor.

In addition to its project work, the article recognizes Glesco’s commitment to workforce development, mentorship, and leadership as a woman-owned electrical contracting business for more than a decade.

My goal is to help every member of our team become the best version of themselves professionally and personally, because when people thrive, the business thrives,” Grenda said.

The feature also notes Glesco’s recent recognition as the 2025 Small Business of the Year by the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce, reflecting the company’s impact on the region through innovation, community engagement, and long-term partnerships.

Glesco Electric is grateful to Central Illinois Business Magazine and Carol Roehm for highlighting the people, projects, and values that continue to shape the company and the communities it serves.
