Downtown Champaign Neil Street Plaza
Glesco Electric partnered with A&R to provide the electrical installation for the City of Champaign Downtown Plaza Phase #1 Improvements.
Glesco Electric served as the electrical contractor for the redevelopment of Neil Street Plaza in downtown Champaign, Illinois. The project transformed a former surface parking lot into a flexible public space designed to support daily use, community events, and outdoor gatherings.
As part of the redevelopment, Glesco Electric installed new underground electrical infrastructure, power distribution systems for plaza amenities, and pedestrian-focused site lighting. The electrical design supports event power needs, including temporary installations and future expansion, while maintaining reliable performance in a high-traffic outdoor environment.
Scope of work also included coordination with site utilities and integration of electrical systems to ensure long-term functionality and durability. The completed project enhances the usability and safety of the plaza, creating a versatile space for public use in the heart of downtown Champaign.
This project highlights Glesco Electric’s experience in commercial and municipal electrical construction, delivering outdoor electrical infrastructure and site lighting systems across Champaign and Central Illinois.
