Turner Hall and Art & Design Building Substation Replacements
Glesco Electric provided comprehensive electrical construction services for the Art & Design Building and Turner Hall Substation Replacement project at the University of Illinois.
Glesco Electric provided electrical construction services for infrastructure upgrades at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Art & Design Building and Turner Hall in Urbana, Illinois. The project involved selective electrical demolition and the installation of new medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems to support campus-wide electrical improvements.
As part of the project, Glesco Electric installed underground duct banks and raceways, medium-voltage cabling, transformers, secondary unit substations, and power distribution equipment. Additional scope included switchboards, panelboards, enclosed switches, and electrical metering systems to support reliable and efficient power delivery across both facilities.
Work also included installation of conduit systems, building wire and cable, grounding and bonding systems, and electrical identification. Glesco Electric performed arc-flash hazard analysis and maintenance testing to ensure system safety and long-term performance.
All work was completed in accordance with university standards and applicable electrical codes, supporting safe, reliable, and scalable electrical infrastructure for campus operations. This project highlights Glesco Electric’s experience in institutional electrical construction and medium-voltage systems across Urbana and Central Illinois.
